Subject: mutt-1.5.4i: Add a Lines header when message is read
To: submit@bugs.guug.de
Message-Id: <E19qJ5L-00077S-00@ay>

Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.4-1
Severity: wishlist

-- Please type your report below this line

I would like that once the number of lines is known (e.g. if the message
has been read), a Lines header should be added to the message if not
already present. For instance, when opening a message from a maildir
mailbox, a Lines header could be added to the message and saved at the
next synchronization. Or when copying a message, a Lines header could
be added too.

A Lines header is useful when using %l in $index_format and also when
piping a group of messages (for a line-based filter).

I can't reproduce that. All mails in my outbox (mbox format) have a
"Lines:" header. Can you reproduce the bug using a recent Mutt? Please
give more context infos.

Bye!	Alain.

I can reproduce the bug with

nikratio:~$ mutt --version
mutt: invalid option -- -
Mutt 1.5.4i (2003-03-19)

All outgoing emails are affected. The FCC box is a maildir.

Please tell me what infos you need.

bye
Nikolaus

Not a single other, thanks! The keyword here is "Maildir". This
folder format doesn't require a "Lines:" header, so Mutt doesn't create
one, and that's not a bug.

One may wish to add a Lines, with Mutt or another tool, it doesn't
hurt and can be convenient. Also take a look at related wishlist #1614
at <URL:http://bugs.guug.de/db/16/1614.html>.

Can we close the bug? Or do you wish we turn this into a wishlist (a
rewriting may be better)?

Bye!	Alain.
