I only ever notice this when trying to change folders -- then I consider
this a feature. What other commands, out of curiosity?

Quit, expunge, change folders, probably others.

I have a folder (LKML) which basically -always- has new mail so I always hit this feature, sometime multiple times in a row. I'd much rather Mutt just do what I told it to do.

I remember seeing that when I wanted to synchronize and quit Mutt
(in a backup mailbox). This was a problem as I was receiving messages
very often.
